Inspired by the Colors and Light of Argentina
Every handmade collection begins with a story. Sometimes it starts with a place, sometimes with a memory, and sometimes with a feeling that refuses to fade. My Argentine Flag Collection was born from all three.
When I began designing these stained glass pieces, I wasn't simply looking for beautiful colors to combine. I wanted to capture something that lives in the hearts of millions of people - a symbol of history, hope, unity, and pride.
In Argentina, the flag is never just a national symbol. It is part of everyday life, present in celebrations, family traditions, school ceremonies, and unforgettable moments shared by generations. That deep emotional connection inspired every design in this collection.
A Flag with a Beautiful Story
The Argentine flag was created in 1812 by General Manuel Belgrano during the country's struggle for independence. According to tradition, its light blue and white colors were inspired by the sky breaking through the clouds - a simple yet powerful image that has remained meaningful for generations.
Today, there are two official versions of the flag. One features the famous Sun of May (Sol de Mayo) at its center, while the other is a plain blue-and-white flag without the sun. The version with the golden sun is the official state and ceremonial flag, symbolizing freedom and the birth of the nation. The simpler version without the sun is also widely recognized and proudly displayed by citizens throughout the country.
Both versions tell the same story of Argentina's identity, and both have inspired several of the stained glass designs in this collection.
A Personal Connection
This collection is especially close to my heart for a very personal reason.
Every year, Argentina celebrates Flag Day on June 20, honoring the legacy of Manuel Belgrano, the creator of the national flag. It also happens to be my birthday.
I have always loved that coincidence. While the country celebrates one of its most treasured symbols, I celebrate another year of life. Over time, those two occasions became beautifully intertwined for me, making June one of the most inspiring times of the year to create.
Perhaps that is why I naturally return to the colors of the Argentine flag again and again. They remind me not only of history and national pride, but also of gratitude, celebration, and the joy of creating something by hand.
The Flag That Lives Everywhere
The Argentine flag is woven into everyday life. It flies from apartment balconies, decorates schools and cafés, appears in neighborhood celebrations, and proudly accompanies every national holiday. It is a symbol that brings people together, carrying memories, traditions, and a shared sense of belonging from one generation to the next.
For Argentines, the flag represents far more than a piece of fabric. It symbolizes resilience, shared history, hope, and an incredible sense of belonging. Whether celebrating a national holiday or cheering together during a football match, the flag is always there - a reminder of what unites the country.
That spirit is what I wanted each stained glass artwork to reflect. As sunlight passes through the blue, white, and yellow glass, it creates ever-changing reflections throughout the day, almost like the Argentine sky itself.
Buenos Aires During the 2026 World Cup
During the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Buenos Aires once again transformed into a sea of sky blue and white. Flags appeared on balconies, shop windows were decorated in the national colors, cafés welcomed customers beneath banners, and entire neighborhoods proudly showed their support for La Selección.
There is something truly special about the atmosphere during the World Cup. For a few unforgettable weeks, the city seems to breathe in unison. Every match becomes a shared experience, every victory a celebration, and every street reflects the pride people feel for their country.
Walking through Buenos Aires during this time, surrounded by thousands of Argentine flags waving in the winter breeze, I found endless inspiration. The familiar palette of sky blue, white, and yellow seemed to glow everywhere - exactly the way stained glass comes alive when sunlight shines through it.
Why Stained Glass?
A flag comes alive as it catches the wind. Stained glass comes alive as it catches the light. Both are transformed by nature, and both reveal their beauty in motion.
As daylight changes throughout the day, the colors become softer, brighter, warmer, or more vibrant, creating a living artwork that is never exactly the same twice.
That is what fascinated me from the very beginning. The sky blue, white, and yellow glass do not simply represent the colors of the Argentine flag - they allow them to shine.
Every piece in this collection interacts with natural light in its own unique way, filling a room with delicate reflections that change from morning to evening. It is my way of celebrating not only the beauty of the flag itself, but also the light, optimism, and warmth it represents.
